Before speaking about the identity of services and their quality, we have to think of the image of a child who is a person from the beginning, who is holder of rights, and competent.
What are the rules and practises applying on the education and care sector? These go from children's rights to the management of services, from quality standards to evaluation procedures.
Some interesting case studies: excellent childcare facilities, national programmes, policies and new perspectives.
This web site is a core repository of reflections, analysis, suggestions, good practises about Education and Care for Children. It is the final result of a project funded by the European Community, which is explicitly open to new developments and contributions.
First, we are addressing the issue of high quality services, starting from 0 to 3. Why? Because we think there are good reasons for creating better places where our children can be cared and educated in the earliest stage of their lives.
Second, we would like to exchange and disseminate these reflections and ideas. In our countries and between countries. Opening to all those who may be interested in the issue: teachers, managers, policy-makers.
Third, we wish to speak a clear language, pointing to the main concepts and images. We do count a lot on telling our experience of the real world, which we have worked out in the videos, powerpoints, materials (learning objects) you will find in this site. Paper documentation is also available.
Please have a tour. Any commentary, contributions, proposals will be appreciated.
